Since 1975, I have lived on the Big Island of Hawai'i. It was in the 1980s that I met many Hawaiian wisdom keepers, healers, kumu (teachers) and story tellers. They began teaching me their own styles of lomi massage, ho'opono, la'au lapa'au, and other traditions. When they asked me to write a book about lomilomi and their teachings, I was honored. I was already teaching and practicing massage therapy, but then my massage career grew into writing, researching, editing, and book publishing too. In these posts, I will share some of their wise words for us all.
